About Us
Canterbury Indian Tamil Association (CITA) is a community organization dedicated to promoting Tamil culture and traditions in the Canterbury region of New Zealand. Our association brings together people of Tamil origin around the world and those interested in Tamil culture, providing a platform to connect and celebrate our heritage.

CITA was established in 2019 with the aim of creating a sense of community among Tamil people living in Canterbury. CITA strongly believe that feeling belonged is more important as a community, we feel belonged when we feel connected to the people whom we can identity ourselves as a part of, CITA’s prime aim is to create a platform where all Tamil speaking individual can come together and share their community spirit. We particularly aim to create an environment which is non religious, non political and non alcoholic. Our team is passionate about promoting Tamil culture and language, we organize various events and activities throughout the year to achieve this goal. These events include cultural festivals, sports tournaments, educational seminars, and social gatherings, which cater to all age groups.
